Two weekends ago we got to celebrate a wonderful friend of the family who was turning 60. I love suprise parties!! We spent the weekend at Stonewall Jackson with my parents, brother, and sister-in-law. Not only did we get to celebrate our friend's birthday with his whole sweet family, but I got to hang out with my family which was fun too. With our busy lives, it is so refreshing to make time for one another. My brother is one of my dearest friends and I love hanging out with him (and his family). Our kids often demand our time, so I was thrilled to get some uninterrupted time with him.
The lodge----I curled up by the fire to do my Bible Study. This resort is so beautiful and in beautiful, majestic surrounding. I couldn't help but marvel at our God's creation.
My honey and I----we are always thankful for a weekend away. We hiked together and talked. It was very refreshing and relaxing.
The birthday guy's other half! Mary Ann is so incredibly dear to me. She is my mom's best friend, and the sweetest woman! Most of my spiritual walk I can attribute to her guidance. She has held me sobbing, counseled me, celebrated with me, laughed with me, prayed with me, did daily life stuff with me (helped me move, clean, etc.), gone on vacation with me. She helped marry Marty and I. We took communion with her on our wedding day. We all cried and celebrated that day. Her daughter and I graduated high school together so we are friends as well. One summer we went on a girls beach trip: Mary Ann, her daughter, my mom, and I. We still laugh about that trip! Good times. She also led a women's group when I was pregnant with Reese of twelve ladies. We studied intensely together and fellowshipped together. She is an ordained minister and has a gift of teaching. I have taken many a bible study from her. She introduced me to Kay Arthur's precept studies years ago, where I fell in love with scripture. She is truly an example of being the hands and feet of Jesus. It was a thrill to celebrate with her family this weekend!
