We have certainly had our share of snow this winter. I love all the seasons and can usually appreciate something in each of them. When I was a stay at home mom a snow day was a respite from our otherwise hectic days---no getting up early, no lunch to pack, no backpack to stuff. Now that I'm working in the schools I maybe love them even more because that's time I wouldn't have at the house with or without kids now. Marty would laugh because I would get so excited---just as excited or maybe more when we would get a call.
I know that we don't always have a winter like this. I had to shut off the computer so that I wouldn't have to see all the complaining. Our kids will still learn, we will still get enough school, and life will go on. This will be a winter to remember.
Reese was grounded from electronics for a large part if not all of the many snows. How did he pass the time? Rubber band bracelets! Yes, there were little bands all over my house and I did not care. It kept these little hands out of trouble!
Marty installed a new bathtub during these winter weekends. The best part about that . . . the box. The kids had a ball with it. They cut two tiny holes in and crawled in and out of it for days. When Marty and I would get ready for bed we always checked the box and found many treasures. We were afraid we might find some nasty old food!
Marty always plows the snow into one big pile. Last year Marty and the kids built an igloo and now apparently we had to top the last.
I think they succeeded. The holes were big enough to sled right through with an extra entrance for crawling. If we had any more snow, we joked that we might put some rooms in it.
Emma's her Daddy's little helper. She is never far from him if he's home. She loves to plow the snow with him on the four wheeler.
I have to admit that when Marty bought the four wheeler I wasn't sure what we would use it for besides hunting. We love it for plowing driveways, and I love to ride back in the woods with it. We have seen some extraordinary sights and had a lot of fun. It was a good investment.
More fun in the box before we taped it up and carved the holes.
Piper loves the snow too. Her favorite thing was to climb on the igloo and sit. It was hysterical.
This is the finished bathtub. Well, the drain isn't in in this picture but it is now! I have been enjoying it for several weeks. The best part was that even though Marty had to re-tile some, he was able to keep the border he and Ryan worked on a few years back. I love it! It's fun to have a handy man in the house.
The absolute best part of winter for me is the togetherness. Winter is our season that we are MOST together as a family. Farming requires little in the winter. We don't usually plan a whole lot. Snow slows things down and forces us to stay home more than usual. I cooked a lot. We played a lot in the snow. We snuggled a lot. We worked around the house. Through all of that we learned how to get along better. I almost hated to send the kids back to school because they were really getting along much better than they had been. One night I was walking past the playroom and noticed this on the wall. I had to laugh I guess since both parties signed it, it holds up right?

love the igloo and the treaty..most of all your good attitude about snow!
