Fall is my favorite season. I love when the air gets cool and crisp. I love the beauty of the leaves changing. I love football and bundling up in jackets and sweatshirts to watch the game. This past Saturday we had an absolutely perfect fall day to enjoy as a family. Marty worked that morning because it was his scheduled Saturday. While he was at work the kids and I had a scavenger hunt for our grateful leaves to our grateful tree. On each of these leaves the kids have written something on the leaves they are grateful for. They did this last year so this was my attempt at getting some more mileage out of the grateful tree. When they found all of our their leaves they brought them to me and told me why they were grateful for each leaf. It was a lot of fun. Some of their answers were sweet and some were really funny! When Marty came home he built a fire and told the kids he would put some hot dogs and marshmallows on the fire. They were thrilled. I decided I would clean the house and mop the floors while they were busy outside. I was so glad to get that accomplished so I could enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Marty has been making the kids homemade gluten free bread every Sunday so they can have PB & J sandwiches in their lunches throughout the week. He decided to make an extra loaf and make us some grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Yum! And my house smelled heavenly.
I made some potato soup in the crock pot so it would be ready by the time the Mountaineers kicked off. I am in love with my crockpot. I love having dinner prepared ahead of time!
Below is a picture of Emma showing me how big Daddy made the fire! She has her marshmallows and she is ready to roast!
After the hot dog roasting and lunch, Reese wanted to play some two on two football in the yard. It was Reese and I against Marty and Emma. Marty and Emma won and it was a lot of fun. I was worn out!
After football the kids wanted to get out their four wheelers and ride around in the yard. They have paths in our woods and they love to make the loop together. They were so cute riding around. Marty and I sat on the porch watching them and sipping hot chocolate.
We had just enough time to shower, put on our PJs, grab our soup and sandwiches and settle in to watch the Mountaineers. The outcome of the game was the icing on the cake for this day!
Piper enjoyed the day too. When the kids ride their four wheelers she runs alongside them. She was ready to snuggle with us and watch the game as well.
The only bittersweet part to the day was that we took down the garden. The good news is is that canning is over for me! I didn't get as many tomatoes as I would have liked, but I was able to can some for the winter.

oh no! caleb saw those pictures of reese and emma on the 4 wheelers! and now he thinks he needs one! looks like a fun day gwen. what a blessed little family you are!
