Happy 12th!

On July 29th, Marty and I celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary.  How did we spend it?  We were driving from North Carolina (visiting my aunt and uncle) back to West Virginia.  We do have a date planned in the near future though.  Since we kayaked last anniversary (my pick), we are going to golf this time (Marty's pick).  Depending on my mood and patience level that day, I may bring my clubs or I may just act as caddy. =)

When we were engaged, our pre-marital counselor through church gave us a questionnaire about how we would like our soon-to-be spouse to show us love.  My love language is physical touch/words of affirmation and Marty's is service.  Surprisingly though one of the things Marty listed way back then was receiving cards. Cards have always been a big thing for us from that time on.  And we don't just give each other cards but always write a letter or lengthy message in them.  We do this for every holiday---Christmas, Easter, Vday, Birthday, Anniversaries.

We both bought each other's cards while on vacation, so they were packed away. We arrived home on our anniversary and we laughed because we couldn't find our cards.  So for the first time in twelve years we exchanged cards on July 30!  Marty's words had no less impact though.

Marty is such a blessing to me.  He leads our family with strength, compassion, and humility.  He sacrifices more than I've ever asked of him.  His forgiveness is beyond measure.  Happy 12th!
